I do not understand the meaning of this quote. If I had to guess, I would say that it was written during the period of the French Revolution. It was a time of great societal changes, a time of many becommings. As to the poets of the time, I think that most of them were men, and that no matter what they wrote about, their main objective was to gain the sexual favors of women! j
